They say that 82.3 percent of statistics are made up on the spot. Watching the video released by Gasland star Josh Fox last week – cleverly titled “The Sky is Pink” — one wonders whether that figure might be in need of a slight upward adjustment. It is yet another example in Fox’s ongoing campaign to sway the public against natural gas production using unfounded fear. When compared to scientific fact, and experience, this latest assertion is easily disproved.

As the U.S. Olympic team gets set to compete against the best athletes from around the world in London later this month, there’s at least one event for which the U.S.A. appears to have already won the gold. According to a new report from the Paris-based International Energy Agency, the United States has had “the largest reduction [of emissions] of all countries or regions” since 2006, cutting GHGs by a staggering 7.7 percent.
